Biology Department

The research committee was approved by the Biology Department in September 2014 (AdHOC) for initially two academic years and since then as a Departmental standing committee in September 2016.

Rationale

The increase in the number of faculty doing research and the number of undergraduate and high school students participating in research in the Department requires reorganization of what is currently in existence and create new policies, instructions and other supporting mechanisms for productive research outcomes.

Committee Tasks

  1. To identify existing policies/other supporting mechanisms for students and faculty to do research in the Biology Department.
  2. To establish new policies/mechanisms to support and enhance research in the department.
  3. To create a model for research-driven courses in the Department.

Reporting Mechanisms

  1. All curriculum-related questions will be go through the Departmental curriculum committee.
  2. All documents established by the Research Committee will be the subject of Departmental discussion and approval.
